Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what information the Globby iPhone app ("the app") and the website globby.cards ("the site") collect, why, and what you can do about it. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, write to devmobileuae@gmail.com.
The short version
- No account is needed. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number to play.
- Your collection and progress are stored on your device.
- The app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog so we can see which parts of the game work. You can turn this off in the app's Settings.
- There are no ads, no advertising SDKs and no cross-app tracking. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.
Who is responsible
Globby ("we", "us") is the developer of the app and the controller of the data described here. Contact: devmobileuae@gmail.com.
What the app collects
Product analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the game is played. The app sends events such as: the app was opened, a screen was viewed, a sticker pack was started or finished, a mini-game was played and its score, a sticker was won, the daily feed was finished, and a settings change. Each event carries technical context: app version, iOS version, device model, language, country or region derived from the request, and a random identifier created on your device.
That identifier is not linked to your name, Apple ID, email, advertising identifier (IDFA) or any other app. We do not combine analytics with data from other sources and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. We use it only to improve the game, fix bugs and decide what to build next. Our legal basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in running and improving the app (Article 6(1)(f)); you can object at any time by turning analytics off.
How to opt out: open the app's Settings and switch off "Share anonymous usage data". The app stops sending events immediately. Deleting the app also deletes the identifier.
Content downloads (Cloudflare R2)
New sticker packs and other game content are downloaded from a content delivery network run by Cloudflare (Cloudflare R2). Like any web server, it receives your IP address and basic request information to deliver the files. We do not use these requests to identify you.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders (for example, that your energy has refilled or that a new feed is ready) as local notifications on your device. They are created on the phone itself; we do not run a push notification server and do not collect a push token. You can turn them off at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Data stored on your device
Your sticker collection, progress, energy, streak and settings are stored locally on your iPhone. We do not have a copy. If you delete the app, this data is deleted too, unless it is included in your own iCloud or device backup, which Apple manages.
Purchases (Globby Plus)
If in-app purchases or the Globby Plus subscription are offered, payments are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app which purchases are active on your Apple ID so that it can unlock them; Apple's own privacy policy applies to the payment. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Apple ID settings.
What the site collects
The site uses PostHog in a cookieless, anonymous mode to count page views and clicks on the App Store button. It does not set cookies or store an identifier in your browser, keeps nothing between visits, does not record sessions and honours the Do Not Track setting. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard server logs, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.
Who receives data
- PostHog: product analytics for the app and the site, stored on PostHog's US cloud.
- Cloudflare: delivery of downloadable game content.
- Vercel: hosting of the site.
- Apple: App Store distribution and payments.
These providers process data on our behalf under data processing terms. Some of them may process data outside your country, including in the United States; where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
How long we keep it
Analytics events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted or aggregated. Data on your device stays until you delete the app.
Children
Globby is a general-audience game that families play together. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, there are no accounts, chat or ads, and analytics events do not identify anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because analytics data is not linked to your identity, the fastest way to stop it is the "Share anonymous usage data" switch in the app's Settings. To make a request about data tied to your device identifier, email devmobileuae@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Changes
We will update this page when the app or the site changes how data is handled, and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
